Glass repair shops: a straight answer, fast

For shops that replace fogged or broken sealed units, glass, screens and hardware, and sometimes whole windows. Your customer has a specific problem and wants to know if it can be fixed.

Who is on the other end of the search

The buyer a site for glass and sealed-unit repair shops has to win, and what they want answered before they pick up the phone.

Your customer has a specific problem: glass that has gone cloudy between the panes, a cracked pane after a storm, a screen torn by the dog. They search for the problem, not for a company type, and they want to know whether it can be fixed without buying new windows.

Many don’t know the term sealed unit. They type “foggy window” or “moisture between the glass”. Pages written in those words, with a clear repair-or-replace explanation, match what they search and what they are worried about.

Repair buyers also want the job to be small. A photo they can send from the phone, and a page that says how long the window is out, turns a worry into a booked visit.

The jobs your site has to sell

Sealed unit replacement
New insulated glass unit in the existing sash or frame.
Broken glass
Single panes, patio door glass, storm damage.
Screens
Rescreening and new screens for windows and patio doors.
Hardware
Cranks, operators, locks and rollers.
Full replacement referrals
When the frame is past repair, the whole window.

What we usually have to fix

Four faults we meet on most sites for glass and sealed-unit repair shops. Each one quietly sends a homeowner to the next installer in the search results.

Fault and correction
On the site nowOn the new build
Services are listed as trade terms (IGU replacement, reglazing) that homeowners never search. A page per problem in the homeowner’s words: foggy window, cracked patio door glass, torn screen.
The site pushes full replacement, and homeowners who only need a unit leave for a cheaper answer. An honest repair-or-replace page that says when a new unit is enough and when the frame is the problem.
Every quote needs a visit before anyone knows the size. A photo-first request that asks for the glass, the whole window and the spacer bar marking.
Nothing says what happens while a new unit is made. A plain page on boarding, timing and what the homeowner can expect in between.

What the website must show, and why

Requirements, glass and sealed-unit repair shops
ItemWhy it matters
Problem pages in the homeowner’s words “Foggy window”, “moisture between panes”, “cracked patio door glass”: each one its own page.
Repair or replace, honestly Explain when a sealed unit is enough and when the frame is the problem.
Photo-first quote request A photo of the glass and the spacer bar often tells you the size and maker before anyone visits.
What to expect on the day Whether the window is boarded while the new unit is made, and how long it takes.
Service area Repair calls are local and often urgent.

The pages your site will carry

A starting build sheet. The final structure follows your content checklist and what you actually sell, not a template.

  1. P-01 Home The common problems as buttons, photo quote request, areas.
  2. P-02 Foggy sealed units What causes it, repair or replace, how the swap works.
  3. P-03 Broken glass Urgent boarding if you offer it, glass types replaced.
  4. P-04 Screens and hardware Rescreening, cranks, rollers, locks.
  5. P-05 Repair or replace The signs that the whole window needs replacing.
  6. P-06 Send a photo The quote form with photo upload.

Not every page has to exist on day one. We put the pages a homeowner checks before booking a measure ahead of the rest, so the site is ready for the spring and summer run. See the install-season board.

A quote form that asks what you need to know

A generic form asks for a message and gets one sentence back. This one asks the questions you would ask on the phone, as taps on a phone screen, so your first callback starts with the job instead of “tell me more”.

What this site can do without

Every extra page is another thing to keep current through install season. These win no work for glass and sealed-unit repair shops, so we leave them out.

  • Product pages for full window lines, unless you sell them. A referral note on the repair-or-replace page is enough.
  • “Same day” promises for sealed units that are made to size.
  • A long company history on the home page. The problem buttons belong there.

Things to get right on this kind of site

  • Be careful with “same day” language unless you really offer it; sealed units are usually made to size.
  • A page that tells a homeowner their frame is fine and only the unit needs replacing is useful; say plainly when it isn’t.
  • If uploads are accepted, the form states what photos are used for and how long they are kept.

NRCan’s own list of signs that windows may need replacing includes condensation or frost on the glass and frames, and warped or cracked frames and sashes, which is the line your repair-or-replace page has to draw 1 .

Foggy window? Often only the sealed unit needs replacing.

Send a photo of the glass and the sticker in the spacer bar. We tell you whether the unit can be replaced in your existing frame.

Replace the sealed unit

  • Frame and sash are sound
  • Glass is fogged between the panes
  • Hardware still opens and locks

Replace the whole window

  • Frame is rotted, warped or cracked
  • Drafts around the frame, not only the glass
  • The window no longer opens

Questions from glass and sealed-unit repair shops

Can customers upload photos through the form?

The form can accept photos if your form tool supports uploads. The page tells the customer what to photograph: the glass, the whole window and any marking on the spacer bar.

Should I list prices for sealed units?

Only if you price that way. Many shops quote after sizing. The site can explain what affects the price, such as size, glass type and access.

Can I add an urgent repair message in winter?

Yes. A seasonal banner or note is a single content edit, and it can be removed the same way.

We also do commercial storefront glass. Can that go on the site?

Yes, as its own section with its own contact path, so a property manager doesn’t land on the homeowner pages.

Will telling people a repair is enough cost me replacement jobs?

A homeowner who was told the truth about a repair has a reason to call you when the frame does need replacing. The page still says plainly when a frame is past repair.
